Of the loads of restaurants that has recently opened in SM Megamall, Linguini Fini is one of my favourites. Forget about the Italian dish names, or the straight up hipster yet beautiful decor, this is about simple, unpretentious food.

Linguini Fini is rooted in Hong Kong and prides itself in sustainable sourcing. Going in, everything looks pretty organised and they have an open-kitchen view. The wall design gets pretty wild: part-retro, part-industrial design. And Clockwork Rizal is instagram-worthy (you have to see it to believe it).
What’s great about Linguini Fini is how they balance the flavours in every dish. You have this nicely battered Fried Calamari but it becomes explosive once you dip it in the lemon, pickled chili aioli. You also have the Straccetti di manzo which are beautifully rare beef slices nestled on top of artichokes and arugula and lovingly sprinkled with gorgonzola and anchovy aioli. You’d fall in love with this place even before getting to the main course.
Linguini Fini has a great selection of pizza and pasta dishes to choose from. The Lamb Rigatoni presents a great combination of the juicy tang of the tomato sauce and the sweetness of slightly caramelized onion. The silky sauce of the Fettucine Funghi also makes this dish a great choice. As a huge meat-lover, I had to go and try the pizza they called ‘The Bronx’ that has just the right spice brought by the pepperoni and the right crunch brought by the pork.

Steak isn’t exactly signature Italian but I still enjoyed the Charred Hanger Steak, these slices of medium rare meat with a nicely charred exterior and comes with caramelised onion aioli. But perhaps my favourite is the Porchetta which is slow-roasted, fennel-rubbed pork belly with chili mostarda. The pieces of pork are ridiculously tender and the dip offers not only heat but flavour as well. Porchetta comes served with focaccia which isn’t exactly what I’d have in a main dish so I totally ignored it and ordered a potato side dish roasted in garlic and rosemary instead. The pork and the potatoes make an even better combination.
I don’t wanna oversell the place but if you every drop by SM Megamall, I insist you try Linguini Fini. You won’t regret it.
